Big Oil Has A Friend In Paul Ryan

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisconsin -- With the unofficial start of the summer season yesterday, so to begins the season of exorbitant, annual gasoline price hikes across America. And Marge Krupp, the Democratic Candidate for Wisconsin’s First Congressional District, asks what her opponent has done to help district voters stave off rising prices and keep the gas prices within the limits of a working family’s pocketbook. “My opponent has not taken a credible stand on the rise in fuel costs, and the predicted rise in fuel costs over the summer season,” says Krupp, “Because he receives thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the very same oil companies making billions of dollars of profits.” According to FEC filings, Ryan has received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from international oil companies, such as Exxon-Mobil, durning his decade-long tenure in Congress
“Paul Ryan’s relative silence on this issue speaks volumes about where his focus is,” proclaimed Krupp “It is on being re-elected and not about helping working families in this district.” Consumers in Southeast Wisconsin have been feeling the pinch of high gas prices in recent months, with no end in sight. At press time, the average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline in the Kenosha-Racine area stands at $4.09/Gallon and holds at $3.93/Gallon in Janesville. Truckers, also feeling the strain of higher costs at the pump, are dealing with $4.79 for gallon of diesel gas in both Kenosha-Racine, and Janesville.
Krupp also noted her opponent’s vote against an increase in oil company taxes in the most recent energy bill, citing it as “a vote for those wish to make life most expensive for average Americans.”

Paul Ryan Comes Up Short For Veterans
Posted by: Krupp For Congress

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisconsin -- For millions of Americans Memorial Day is a time to pay respects to those who gave of themselves to the safety and service of the United States. However, Marge Krupp, the Democratic Candidate for Wisconsin's First Congressional District, is quick to remind district voters of her opponent's recent opposition to the needs of those veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. "Paul Ryan's concern for tax cuts for wealthiest in society over the needs of veterans is appalling," says Krupp. Ryan recently voted against the "New G.I. Bill" (H.R. 2642), which proposed a tax increase for those making over $500,000 a year to pay for a college education program for veterans returning from post-9/11 conflicts.
"Ryan's dogged and dangerous pursuit of tax cutting, despite his voting for the war, almost put the dreams of college for millions of returning veterans out of reach," Krupp proclaimed. The "New G.I. Bill" was proposed out of a need for essential education dollars for veterans in the face of serious cuts to college financial aid. Krupp added, "I believe that putting on a uniform for our nation comes with risks and benefits, but the promise of a college education for those who do should never be taken away."
Marge Krupp noted that despite her staunch opposition to the War in Iraq, she believes that our brave servicemen and women should have the very best our nation has to offer upon their return home.
